How To Properly Use Inhalers for COPD and Asthma

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a term used to describe progressive lung diseases including emphysema, chronic bronchitis, refractory (non-reversible) asthma, and some forms of bronchiectasis.  Asthma is a condition that causes your airways to narrow and swell, making breathing difficult.

There are many different types of inhalers used to deliver medicine to treat COPD and asthma. Knowing how to use an inhaler properly is important. Using an inhaler correctly ensures the medicine is effective, which can help prevent hospitalizations.

The videos below show you how to correctly use many types of inhalers. We recommend watching the Introduction to Inhalers video first and then finding the video that matches the type of inhaler prescribed to you.

If after watching the video, you still have questions about using your inhaler, you can ask your local pharmacist for a “hands on” demo.  You can also call your doctor or you can always give us a call.
