IMPORTANT: MassHealth Returning to Annual Eligibility Renewal Process!

If you have BOTH Tufts Medicare Preferred coverage and Massachusetts MassHealth Medicaid (MassHealth) coverage, you may need to take action to maintain your MassHealth coverage.

In March 2020, the federal government declared a public health emergency (PHE) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to the PHE and consistent with federal continuous coverage requirements, MassHealth paused any terminations resulting from the annual renewal process. This meant most members kept their MassHealth coverage throughout the pandemic without having to go through the standard annual renewal process.

Your Tufts Medicare Preferred coverage is secure, you do not need to renew that coverage at this time. However, the federal government has decided to end the continuous coverage requirements for Medicaid. In response to this decision, MassHealth will return to their standard annual eligibility renewal processes. Starting April 1, 2023, all current MassHealth members need to renew their health coverage to ensure they still qualify for their current benefit. These renewals will take place over a 12-month period (i.e., from April 1, 2023 to April 1, 2024). Please watch your mail for important information from MassHealth, you may need to take action.

For additional information, contact MassHealth.  Act now to renew coverage.
