DISCOUNT INFORMATION: Individuals who join a Tufts Medicare Preferred Supplement plan may be eligible for a discounted premium. The discount is available to individuals 65 and older who join a Supplement plan within six (6) months of acquiring their Medicare Part B coverage for the first time. The discounted premium begins with your plan's initial effective date and applies as follows: 15% off your premium for months 1 through 12, 10% off your premium for months 13 through 24, and 5% off your premium for months 25 through 36. After month 36, the discount ends and the current premium rate will apply. This discount does not apply to the premium for the optional Tufts Health Plan dental add-on coverage or employer group membership.

Our Tufts Medicare Preferred Supplement 1A plan is a private insurance that helps defray the costs of Original Medicare coverage. This plan pays your Medicare Part A annual deductible, as well as the copays and coinsurance required for most medical and hospital services covered through Medicare. When you join, you remain enrolled in Original Medicare and can continue to see any doctor that accepts Original Medicare with no need for referrals.
What is the difference between Tufts Medicare Supplement 1 plan and Tufts Medicare Supplement 1A plan?
Due to the Federal MACRA (Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act) mandate the Tufts Medicare Preferred Supplement 1 Plan is not available if you are newly eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020. For more details on MACRA, visit the MACRA FAQ page. If MACRA applies to you, consider enrolling in Tufts Medicare Preferred Supplement 1A or Tufts Medicare Preferred Supplement Core for the coverage you need. Please note, existing members can only switch from Tufts Medicare Supplement 1 plan to Tufts Medicare Supplement 1A if you've been on the Tufts Medicare Supplement 1 plan for at least 12 months.
