Medicare CAHPS survey begins March 10
Beginning March 10th, our survey vendor (PressGaney) will begin mailing the annual Medicare CAHPS survey questionnaires to Tufts Health Plan Members.
We have provided general information about the survey below in case you receive questions. The CAHPS survey questionnaire provides a great opportunity for us to learn more about our members’ experiences with the plan and with health plan providers. If you receive any inquiries, please be sure to encourage completion.
The CAHPS survey asks questions about experiences related to getting needed care, quality of care, and quality of their health plan. Members are randomly sampled; not all members are surveyed. The CAHPS survey is sent by a vendor as required by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Medicare CAHPS communication timeline:
- 1st survey mailing – Sent on March 10
- 2nd survey mailing – March 30
- Phone attempts to non-responders – April 22-May 30
- Medicare members have until 6/1 to respond
- Surveys are sent in English, Spanish, and Chinese (based on the members’ language preference we have on file)
- Survey results are aggregated; Tufts Health Plan does not receive member-identifiable responses
OEP do’s and don’ts
You can still sell during the Open Enrollment Period (OEP), but there are some important guidelines to keep in mind.
What can you do and not do during OEP that runs from January 1 to March 31?
CMS prohibits “knowingly” targeting or marketing to Medicare Advantage enrollees during OEP, including distribution of unsolicited marketing materials and activities that use OEP as a sales opportunity.
What you can do:
- Provide information and respond to questions about OEP and the opportunity to switch Medicare Advantage plans when asked.
- Send marketing materials about Tufts Health Plan when requested by a client.
- Educate individuals aging into Medicare (“age-ins”) and Low Income Subsidy (LIS) and dual-eligible recipients about Tufts Health Plan.
